The Health Professionals Registration Boards
The Health Professionals Registration Boards (HPRB) provide administrative
and financial support to several health professional statutory boards,
as follows:
Individual Boards
Financial And Administrative Support
The HPRB's administrative and financial support enables the Boards to:
- grant registrations or licences
- provide for the renewal and restoration of registrations
- maintain professional standards through administration of statutory
disciplinary provisions
- respond to complaints and examine a health professional registrants
fitness to practise
- advise the Minister for Health on policy issues and the administration
of the Boards
- accreditate programs leading to registration/licensure
There are over 100,000 health professionals currently registered by the
above boards.
The Boards provide a service to:
- every person in NSW who requires the professional services of a health
practitioner in the professions listed above
- the registrants themselves
- Board members and other Committee Members
- the Minister for Health and Department of Health

Our service.
The HPRB is committed to providing a high standard of service to meet
customer requirements. It monitors this standard of service and seeks
to respond to improved service requirements. You will receive attentive
courteous service whether your inquiry is made:
- over the counter
- in writing or
- by telephone
- electronically
What can be expected from us?
Each Board meets regularly, usually monthly to determine registrations
and other matters.
Response times for registration/licensing depend on when the relevant
Board receives an application and whether the applicant is eligible for
registration, whether all required documentation is submitted in support
of the application and whether any other requirements for registration
have been satisfied.
Main Registration Services
The main registration services provided by the HPRB are:
- initial registration for applicants who satisfy NSW legislative requirements
- registration for applicants who have completed programs of professional
education outside New South Wales (including other countries), provided
the applicants can satisfy the legislative requirements for registration
in this State
- registration under the Mutual Recognition provisions for registrants
of Australian States / Territories or other jurisdictions
- annual renewal of registration
- restoration of registration
- implementation of disciplinary provisions provided under the various
Acts.
